shrimp
- 1 lb shrimp (peeled and deveined)
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 3/4 cup cornstarch
- peanut oil (or any frying oil)
Sauce
(or can buy siracha mayo pre made)
- 1/2 cup mayo
- 3 tsp sriracha
- 2 tbsp sweet chili sauce
Taco toppings
- tortillas
- cole slaw mix
- tomato diced
- cilantro
- lime wedges
Make a marinade by combining buttermilk and seasonings
Add shrimp to marinade
Remove shrimp from marinade one at a time and coat in cornstarch
Heat oil in a pot and fry shrimp (around 3 minutes)
Use a strainer to transfer cooked shrimp to a paper towel lined plate
(If using homemade sauce, taste test before this step. You don’t want it to be too spicy for your liking! You may need to critique)
(If your sauce is pre made use just enough to coat all of your shrimp. measuring is not necessary)
Add shrimp to a bowl, drizzle half the sauce over them, coat, and let sit for 10 minutes
(You can make actual cole slaw or just eat the cabbage mix plain on your taco)
Assemble tacos by adding cole slaw mix, tomatoes, shrimp, and cilantro to a tortilla
serve with lime wedges
