Small batch chocolate sheet cake

Cake

  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 heaping tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup hot water
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 1/2 tbsp buttermilk
  • Vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda

Frosting

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 1/2 tbsp milk

To make the cake add butter, water, and cocoa to a saucepan until fully melted (let bubble a little)

Transfer mixture to a bowl with remaining ingredients and mix

Add to a greased 8×8 dish

Bake at 350 for 15 minutes

Make the frosting by adding all ingredients to a saucepan until melted (don’t let boil)

Frost the cake while it’s still hot
